Disability

All Aucklanders have the right to be physically active. Organising meetings, programmes and events so that diverse groups of people can participate as much as possible through accommodating different needs requires early planning and considered thought about all the ways to be accessible and inclusive.

Aktive works with our System Build Partners to ensure play, active recreation and sport opportunities are made available for everyone in the community across the Auckland region.

Aktive also supports specialist disability sector organisations, where appropriate, so they can help.

Disability Accessible and Inclusive Physical Activity Guidelines

Following input from a range of specialist disability sector organisations, our Understanding Disability Toolkit and Accessible and Inclusive Physical Activity Guidelines have been designed specifically for clubs and community groups with information, insights and ideas on including disabled participants in physical activity.
